Trev is very ill

Hi All,

I've a favour to ask.
Trev went into hospital on Saturday morning with a fever and difficulty breathing. He was diagnosed as having pneumonia as a result of a flu virus. It turns out it's swine flu. Caleb and I both had it and were fine, but Trev's immune system came close to killing him. By 4am Sunday morning the hospital called to tell us to hurry up and come see him as he had deteriotated very quickly and was on life support. It's Tuesday and he still is. His temperature has come down from 40 degrees to 37.7, but his lungs have yet to show any improvement. He is in an induced coma, paralysed so the ventilator can do all the work for his lungs and as such is not aware of the life and death struggle he's going through.

We're currently staying in Hobart and spending as much time as we can with him.

I'm a great believer in the ability of people to help or heal others with the power of thought. Yes, I know, very hippy trippy. But it can't hurt to try. I'd like to ask that you might find a moment to send Trev a bit of healing energy. We love the silly buggar a lot.

Thank you.

Pray hard to whatever god/spirit/universe you believe in, and he will listen. I only know you both from your book which I have only just read, but I too will pray for his recovery. Don't give up. Let us know when he improves.

Hi
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Having been through the same thing earlier this year with my husband I know how scary and helpless it can feel. He is well now so you must have faith and have positive thoughts.

My wife has a really bad case of the flu right now as well, and it's been 8 days. She's still no better. Thank you for reminding me that we have health insurance for a reason. I'm going to take her in.

And I send my well-wishes and positive thoughts to you and Trev.

Thanks for the well wishes, chokes me up. Hopefully it doesn't have the same effect on Trev.

Trev had a bad night last night, they tried to turn him on his side and it had a pretty dramatic effect, and they've only just got him stable again.

We're keen to talk to the doctors about intravenous Vitamin C. It had a very positive effect on another Swine flu victim in NZ - (google Living Proof, Swine Flu). Hope it won't be the battle they had to get him on it.

Hope things go well Everett! and thanks for sending info on about your husband Nicole. Have to ask how long it took for improvement. Today is Day 5 and we've yet to see much and it worries the hell out of us.

we'll be sending positive vibes your way... I am sure that the universe will realise their mistake and throw him on back, after all, he does have a gorgeous house to finish!

we've recently been part of a life and death experience, and our boy hung on for a glass of water... I hope something as simple and sustaining brings trev back to you...

Linda Cockburn said...

Hung on for a glass of water, Jo? Sounds an interesting thing to keep you gravity bound. Prepared to tell us more? Nothing more wonderful than survival stories, especially right now. Thanks to Nicole for the 100% OK story of recovery of her husband. It's one of my fears that he'll never get back to 100%, not something Trev would deal with well.

I'm so sorry I didn't read this until now, and I don't know what to say except I know that he'll pull through.

I was on life support years ago for over 2 weeks (viral encephalitis was the nasty in my case) at the age of 19. Darn near killed me. But it didn't - which is proof that you can't keep an old (or young) hippy down.

He'll be fine. I know he will. Because I was and her I am writing this for proof.

Prayers and much, much love coming to you from stormy Dunedin. XXXX
